Section 1What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file that a website's server stores in your browser or device when you browse the site. Common uses include keeping you logged in, remembering language preferences, gathering anonymised analytics and personalising adverts.
In this policy, "cookies" also covers other client-side tracking technologies, such as:
- Local storage / session storage — the browser's local data;
- Pixel tags / web beacons — transparent images embedded in a page to track visits;
- SDK identifiers — IDs carried by embedded components (for example, a WhatsApp widget).
Section 2Cookies and similar tech VIVA currently uses
As of the "last updated" date above, viveedu.com uses cookies as follows:
- Strictly necessary cookies
- The VIVA site is a static website with no login system, so we do not set any first-party session cookies. If we introduce a member area or a form submission back-end in future, this section will be updated and your consent will be sought via a banner before any cookie is set.
- Cloudflare security cookies
- The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which may set a small number of strictly necessary security cookies in your browser (such as
__cf_bm,cf_clearance) to distinguish real users from bots and to defend against attacks. These are strictly necessary cookies under the PDPA, cannot be disabled, and are not used for behavioural profiling or advertising. - Analytics cookies [TBC]
- VIVA does not currently enable any third-party website analytics (e.g. Google Analytics, Plausible, Cloudflare Web Analytics, Microsoft Clarity). If we enable any analytics in future, we will disclose it here and provide an opt-out. Please confirm with the user whether any analytics tool is in use.
- Advertising / marketing cookies
- VIVA does not serve third-party advertising cookies on viveedu.com, and does not use remarketing pixels (Meta Pixel, Google Ads Remarketing etc.).
Section 3Third-party cookies and embedded content
The website may embed the following third-party content, which can set cookies in your browser when you visit the related pages:
- Google Maps (embedded on the contact page)
- contact.html embeds a Google Maps iframe to show VIVA's office location. Google may set cookies such as
NID,CONSENTto remember map settings and user preferences. See Google's Cookies and similar technologies. - WhatsApp link (wa.me)
- Clicking a WhatsApp link (e.g. "WhatsApp · +65 8686 3695") opens wa.me, where Meta sets its own cookies. VIVA's site itself does not embed a WhatsApp widget.
- Cloudflare
- See Section 2.
- Google Fonts
- The site loads Playfair Display / Cormorant Garamond / Inter / Noto Serif SC from the Google Fonts CDN. Google may log the IP that requests fonts but does not set a cookie.
VIVA cannot directly control third-party cookies. We suggest reading the relevant third party's cookie policy for full detail.
Section 4Managing, refusing and deleting cookies
You can manage cookies in the following ways:
Browser-level settings
Every major browser provides a way to view, block or delete stored cookies:
- Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data;
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data;
- Apple Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data;
- Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies;
- iOS Safari: Settings → Safari → Block All Cookies / Prevent Cross-Site Tracking;
- Android Chrome: Menu → Settings → Site settings → Cookies.
Third-party opt-out
- Google Maps: opt out of Google personalised advertising — https://adssettings.google.com;
- Cloudflare: blocking third-party cookies in your browser or using a private window will materially reduce Cloudflare-set tracking cookies;
- YourOnlineChoices (EU / global behavioural-ad opt-out): https://www.youronlinechoices.com.
Consequences
Blocking all cookies will not affect the website's core reading experience, but may:
- Cause Cloudflare's anti-bot system to flag you as a bot, leading to extra verification (such as hCaptcha);
- Cause Google Maps embeds to forget zoom-and-position preferences;
- Affect any future form features.
Section 5Do Not Track and browser privacy features
The VIVA website respects the browser's Do Not Track (DNT) signal and the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. Because VIVA does not currently enable any behavioural-tracking cookies, DNT / GPC has no actual impact on our processing. If we enable analytics in future, VIVA commits to never enabling non-essential tracking when DNT=1 or a GPC signal is detected.
Section 6Updates to this policy
VIVA may update this policy from time to time. Material changes (new tracking tools, new third-party advertising cookies etc.) will be announced at least 14 days in advance in a prominent place on the site. Continued use of the website is taken as acceptance of the updated policy.
The "last updated" date at the top of this page makes it easy to track changes.
